Leeds United striker Rodrigo Moreno has paid tribute to his side for their performance against Wolves on Monday night.

Despite going down to a 1-0 defeat to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side at Elland Road, it seems the Spaniard was impressed by his teammate’s performance on the night, in a game they probably should have taken something from.

It was a frustrating night for Leeds on Monday, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side failing to take advantage of their domination of possession and territory in the first-half in particular.

Raul Jiminez’ deflected 70th minute was enough to secure all three points for the visitors, condemning Leeds to their first home league defeat of the season.

Despite that, Rodrigo seemingly remains encouraged by what he saw on Monday, which was the first time the club record summer signing has completed a full league game this season.

Taking to Instagram to give his thoughts after the game, the striker revealed his belief that the Whites’ deserved something from the game, while also expressing his pride at the performance of his side.

It is a short turnaround now for Rodrigo and co. with Leeds back in action on Friday night when they make the trip to the Midlands to take on Aston Villa.

It is good to see this from someone such as Rodrigo.

Having only joined the club a few months ago, the fact he is already willing to come out and make observations such as this highlight just how quickly he has integrated himself into the squad, and the club as a whole.

Indeed, that is further backed up by the fact that he has already established himself as a regular feature for the Whites, despite Bielsa’s notorious reluctance to rush signings into the starting lineup.

You also have to feel that Rodrigo has given a rather accurate assessment of the game here, with Leeds probably unlucky not to make their threat tell when they were in the ascendency in the first half, and that should be both a source of encouragement, and lesson to bear in mind, for the Spaniard and his teammates going forward this season.
