Now the season’s over and we know we’ll be playing Championship football next season, it’s time for us to sign Garry Monk and focus on improving the squad for next year’s promotion push.

One position that has seemed to be a problem for years is the wide positions. Last year we actually had genuine wingers and at times they were very exciting to watch but other times they were frustrating.

Hadi Sacko had a very decent start to his career but his lack of a final ball was a large reason why he didn’t feature more towards the end of the season. He’s unlikely to return and Alfonso Pedraza’s release clause is way too high for what we saw of him last year, I’d rather spend it elsewhere.

We need more creativity that’s for sure, so here are a few wingers who Leeds may well be linked with this summer.

Marcus Maddison

The Peterborough winger has been transfer listed at London Road after going into the final year of his contract and could well leave this window. Leeds were linked with him previously and according to Barry Fry were close to agreeing a deal for him in January 2016 before Massimo Cellino decided to ‘move the goalposts’.

Maddison managed 9 goals and 17 assists in 41 appearances for the Posh last year which is a phenomenal record for a player who was part of a team who finished 11th in League One.

At just 23 years of age Maddison has a lot of football ahead of him and would be an ideal signing for Leeds. He’s probably going to leave Peterborough providing they receive the right offer and would be a good addition to our team, imagine how many chances we’d create with him in the side.
