Patrick Bamford is the only player Leeds United could welcome back from injury when they face Arsenal at Elland Road on Saturday.

That’s according to Leeds Live journalist Beren Cross, who notes that it would still need a quick turnaround for the striker to feature this weekend.

Leeds have been decimated by injuries this season. Bamford has missed the last two games after injuring his hamstring celebrating his late equaliser against Brentford, in what was his first game back after a spell on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, Kalvin Phillips, Rodrigo, Robin Koch, Liam Cooper, and Pascal Struijk are all currently in the midst of injury enforced absences.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side also suffered more blows in their thrashing at Manchester City on Tuesday, with Jamie Shackleton suffering an injury, and Junior Firpo receiving a suspension after being booked for the fifth time this season.

Now it seems that if Leeds are going to have any respite in terms of their selection options for Saturday’s game, it will come in the form of Bamford.

Providing a team news update in a Leeds Live Facebook video, Cross said: “Bamford is the one that we are hopeful will be a shorter issue and may well be in with a fighting chance of Saturday, but you know, it’s Wednesday morning now, that’s going to have to be a very, very quick turnaround for Bamford.”

It would certainly be a boost for Leeds to have Bamford back on Saturday.

In his absence, the Whites have badly lacked an attacking outlet upfront, which has certainly not helped when it comes to their current struggles at the wrong end of the table.

Indeed, Bamford’s impact on his return to the side against Brentford was a reminder of just how important he is to this Leeds team, and they will want him back quickly for this reason.

You also feel that after the disappointment of Tuesday night, seeing a popular and influential player such as Bamford back in the side will be a big lift for Leeds, so having him fit to face Arsenal could be absolutely crucial.
