Rotherham United have taken Bobby Kamwa on trial from Leeds United.

That’s according to Rotherham Advertiser reporter Paul Davis, who says the Millers want to give Kamwa the chance to catch the eye.

A member of Leeds’ academy, Kamwa made ten appearances for Leeds’ Under 23s side last season, scoring twice and providing one assist to help them to the League title.

The 21-year-old has yet to make a competitive appearance in first-team football, although it seems he could be given the chance to do that with the Millers.

According to this latest update from Davis, Kamwa has been identified as the trialist who featured for Rotherham in their 3-1 friendly win over Harrogate Town on Wednesday night.

It is thought that Kamwa will now spend the next two days with Rotherham, whose assistant manager Richie Baker has described this as a chance to impress for the young midfielder.

As things stand there is a year remaining on Kamwa’s contract with Leeds, securing his future at the club until the end of next season.

This looks like a good opportunity for Kamwa to me.

The midfielder has yet to make an appearance at senior football, something he should be aiming to do at the age of 21.

As a result, if he can secure a loan move to Rotherham through this trial, this could be a big chance for him to finally prove himself at first-team level.

Given he has just a year remaining on his contract at Leeds, that could be crucial for his career as he looks to secure another deal beyond that point, either at Elland Road or elsewhere.
