Leeds United are reportedly in the hunt for Real Madrid man Lucas Vazquez, whose contract is due to expire in the summer.

Leeds have been a joy to watch this season and their summer transfers have paid dividends so far.

We’re heading towards the back end of the season and the Whites’ performances leave them in a position where they can begin planning for 2021/22 quite comfortably.

Transfers are on the agenda and one player who’s been linked is Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez.

The Spain international is out of contract in the summer and set to leave on a free transfer, while Spanish outlet Le Quatro (via Le 10 Sport) reported Leeds one of the clubs taking an interest.

Vazquez has 31 appearances to his name this season with two goals and seven assists, whilst playing in both right-wing and right-back.

Now, it is claimed by Sky Germany that Bayern Munich, another club interested, are hesitant on a deal due to his wage demands.

A deal to sign him would cost £90,000 per week, according to the report.

This new information might put Leeds off their interest in him, given that it would likely inflate the club’s wage structure.

With this sort of wage in mind, it’s not a deal I can neither see us pulling off, or even wanting to entertain.

At 29, he’s a player who’s hit his peak and won’t get much better, even under Bielsa, so it’s not an investment.

Also, there are players out there who we could sign for positions that we absolutely need, such as a central midfielder and a left-back primarily.

He’s undoubtedly a talented player and I wouldn’t have too many complaints if he was playing for us, but it’s not a deal I can see Leeds or many clubs going out of their way to pull off.
