It seems that Philadelphia Union left-back Kai Wagner is determined to seal a move to Leeds United eventually.
That’s after LUFCFANZONE reported that the 25-year-old has rejcted the chance to join three other clubs, in the hope of securing a switch to Elland Road when the transfer window reopens in January.
Earlier in the summer, injuries to Junior Firpo and Stuart Dallas, as well as the sale of Leif Davis to Ipswich, meant it looked as though the signing of a new left-back was on the agenda for Leeds.
As a result, the Whites were linked with a potential move for Wagner, who has made over 100 MLS appearances for Philadelphia since joining in 2019.
Ultimately though, no deal would materialise, and Leeds ended the window more focused on their attempts to add to their attacking ranks.
Now however, it seems that Wagner himself has not given up hope of securing a move to Yorkshire, sooner rather than later.
According to this latest update, the left-back has now turned down the chance to join Stade Reims, Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos, in the hope of joining Leeds when the market opens in January.
It is claimed that Leeds themselves remain fans of the 25-year-old, and are still in talks about a potential deal for Wagner.
This does seem as though it could be one to keep an eye on in the lead up to the January window.
Although Firpo and Dallas will both return from injury eventually, the Northern Irishman is now approaching the latter stages of his career.
As a result, Leeds may still need another longer term option in that position, something that Wagner could provide at his age.
The 25-year-old is also someone who has a decent amount of experience at a high level in MLS, meaning he could do a decent job for the Whites, and may be well worth targeting once the market opens again.
