Phil Hay has claimed that he believes the unconvincing nature of Ezgjan Alioski’s performance might be what is driving Leeds United to sign a left-back in the summer.
Leeds let Barry Douglas leave in the summer, with Stuart Dallas and Alioski sharing the berth this season.
However, it remains a problem position for the Whites and Marcelo Bielsa, which will need to be addressed in the summer.

Alioski has become a talking point in recent weeks due to the fact that he’s going to be out of contract at Elland Road in the summer.
There’s no deal been agreed just yet and reports have previously revealed that Leeds are looking at recruiting a fresh left-back option in the summer.
In the eyes of Hay, writing on The Athletic’s latest Q&A, Alioski at left-back doesn’t work and he can see why Leeds are chasing a signing to replace him.
As for the left-hand side, I’m just not sure that Alioski really works as a left-back. More and more I can see why Leeds want to recruit there.
This season, the 29-year-old has made 26 appearances this season in the Premier League, scoring twice. Those goals came in wins over Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion.

Left-back has been an issue at Elland Road since Charlie Taylor left the club for Burnley.
Douglas never solved a problem and you’ve felt that Dallas and Alioski have been stopgaps rather than long-term solutions.
This summer, Leeds need to sign a left-back that convinces at this level.
Finding that balance on the left like Leeds have on the right with Luke Ayling is going to be vital to this team progressing.
Unfortunately, it might be the time for Alioski to move on.
