Leeds United winger Raphinha could return to action when his side travel to the AMEX Stadium to face Brighton on Saturday.
That’s according to The Athletic’s Phil Hay, who also says Luke Ayling is making progress towards a return, but that no timescale has been put on when Rodrigo could return to action.
Following the November international break, Leeds returned to action with a 2-1 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.
Raphinha missed that game through illness, with Rodrigo also sitting it out due to an apparent foot injury.
Ayling meanwhile, has not featured for Leeds the draw with Newcastle in September, as a result of a knee problem.
Now though, it seems as though all three are at varying stages of the recovery process, as they look to get back on the pitch for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
Providing an update on the trio via his Twitter account, Hay revealed that Raphinha could feature against Brighton, and that Ayling is closing in on a return to fitness, but that it remains to be seen how long Rodrigo will be out for.
This will no doubt be a relief for those of a Leeds United persuasion.
It has been a challenging start to the season for the Whites, and the absences of key players such as these three will not have helped that at all.
As a result, getting these players back involved with the team is something you would expect to help improve results, and it seems they are close to doing that with Raphinha and Ayling at least.
With that in mind, it does feel as though there are still reasons for Leeds to be positive despite their precarious position in the Premier League, and it will be interesting to see if that does indeed pay off.
