Leeds United forward Rodrigo is unlikely to move to Barcelona this month amid reported interest from the La Liga side.

There aren’t really any first-team players that Leeds can afford to let go this month, but speculation is persisting regarding Rodrigo’s future.

After Barcelona offered to sign the forward back in the summer, El Nacional have claimed that the Catalan giants are in for the Spaniard once more.

Having seen Lionel Messi leave in the summer, they have also parted ways with Philippe Coutinho this month on loan while Ousmane Dembele looks likely to depart too.

It’s an area of weakness since the Argentine left the club, but they are unlikely to bring Rodrigo back to La Liga this month.

Speaking after the defeat to Newcastle, The Athletic’s Phil Hay commented in a Q&A about speculation regarding his future.

“Barca looked at him very late in the last window (loan bid) but Leeds said no,” he shared.

“It doesn’t seem to have resurfaced yet but they clearly have, or had, an interest in him.”

I can’t see him leaving nor can I see us entertaining his departure.

As much as he wasn’t great against Newcastle, we can’t afford to let him leave right now.

Rodrigo’s move hasn’t worked out at Leeds and it wouldn’t shock me if he looked for a way back to Spain at the end of the season.

However, we need him now and we would be daft to let him go to Barcelona, even if they wanted him.
