Kalvin Phillips will train and be in contention for Leeds United this weekend against Brighton and Hove Albion, despite suffering a head injury on the club’s Christmas party.

Leeds extended their stay in London after Sunday’s defeat to Tottenham, having their Christmas party early ahead of December’s packed schedule.

However, a report from the Telegraph has revealed that Phillips suffered a head injury at the event.

Phil Hay has moved to provide a further update on the 25-year-old, outlining that he ‘scraped his head’ and has been training as planned since, with the expectancy that he will be fit enough to feature for Leeds against Brighton on Saturday.

There was plenty of reaction to that update over on Twitter:

It’s good that Phillips’ injuries aren’t serious and he isn’t going to miss ay football, obviously.

Leeds’ season is shaping into a really tough one and sitting 17th at this stage isn’t something that anyone really expected.

The thought of losing Phillips to something like an injury from a Christmas party would have caused uproar.

Hopefully the incident can be put to bed now and the England international can build his way back to his best at Brighton.
