The summer saw Leeds United pull out of a deal for Michael Cuisance from Bayern Munich.
Leeds pulled the plug on the midfielder’s move to Elland Road at a late stage, with a medical issue the problem.
Cuisance has since moved on to Marseille but things aren’t going too well for him.
The 21-year-old midfielder has made 14 appearances in Ligue 1 for Marseille this season, registering a single assist. An additional six appearances have come in the Champions League.
On the face of things, Cuisance’s key stats do not stand out and tell you that he’s been a success so far.
Now, an assessment of the Frenchman has emerged from Get French Football News on Twitter.
They claim that in a No.10 position, the midfielder’s performances have been subpar, lacking invention and physicality.
A complete shadow of the player that Leeds would have seen at Bayern Munich.
This is interesting and perhaps another indication that Leeds have swerved a potentially expensive flop.
Leeds were going to pay £20m for Cuisance and, on the evidence of this assessment, that’s way over the odds for the midfielder.
Cuisance has had a hard time adapting at Marseille, with the little we’ve seen of him suggesting he isn’t quite the player Bayern Munich thought he was.
Of course, he’s still 21 and has time to put things right, but this looks a deal that’s well avoided at the moment.
That’s even considering Leeds are short in midfield!
