Marcelo Bielsa is boosted by Patrick Bamford and Luke Ayling’s return for Leeds United this weekend, as the Whites take on Brentford in the Premier League.

Leeds have been without the pair since September’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle United due to ankle (Bamford) and knee (Ayling) injuries.

Bamford and Ayling played for Leeds’ U23s against Manchester City last week, but were left out against Leicester City last night, teasing first-team involvement.

However, as our graphic below shows, it feels unlikely that either will start:

Bielsa looks set to line Leeds up in a 3-3-1-3 system to combat Brentford’s two-man attack.

Pascal Struijk is hoping to shake off a hip injury to feature and could form a back-three with Liam Cooper and Diego Llorente, ahead of Illan Meslier.

That allows Kalvin Phillips to anchor the midfield and play alongside Adam Forshaw once more.

Stuart Dallas starts ahead of Ayling as the right wing-back, whilst Junior Firpo could be recalled as the only change following a good impact in the win over Crystal Palace. He replaces Mateusz Klich.

In attack, then, Leeds could remain unchanged, with Daniel James, Tyler Roberts and Raphinha lining up from left to right.
