Kalvin Phillips is facing around six weeks on the sidelines after picking up a shoulder injury in Leeds United’s defeat to Wolves last night.
Leeds were beaten by Raul Jimenez’s 70th minute goal at Elland Road, but there has been a further setback emerge today other than dropped points.
The club have confirmed that Phillips, 24, has suffered a shoulder injury and is facing six weeks on the sidelines.
Luckily for Leeds, there’s no need for surgery, but it is still a significant setback for Marcelo Bielsa ahead of Friday evening’s meeting with Aston Villa.
Here, we dive into some fan reaction…
What a blow. Losing Phillips at any time is a real concern for Leeds, but especially when their centre-back options are stretched too.
Liam Cooper is struggling to get himself fit, Diego Llorente is also out for another couple of weeks and there’s a little concern over Pascal Struijk after he hobbled out of last night’s defeat.
The latter is the natural replacement for Phillips and if he isn’t fit or required at centre-back, suddenly Bielsa is relying on Mateusz Klich. We then start to lose some of our attacking structure.
It’s a real headache for Bielsa ahead of a crucial run of fixtures.
