The Yorkshire Evening Post are reporting that investment into Leeds United is not imminent.

Leeds are revelling in promotion to the Premier League still, with Andrea Radrizzani backing Marcelo Bielsa heavily in the transfer window.

San Francisco 49ers, who are shareholders in the club, have been discussing their stance with Leeds recently. That’s led to talk of further investments.

San Francisco president Paraag Marathe has been speaking to NBC Sports about Leeds. There’s already a 10% stake in the Elland Road club from the NFL franchise, but he’s been hinting that could increase in a telling interview.

However, as the YEP transcribe some of those quotes, they go onto say that further investment in Leeds is not imminent. However, should the 49ers want to increase their stake in the Premier League side, it wouldn’t be complicated given they have a foot in the door.

Radrizzani has been in sole control of Leeds for over three years now, winning promotion at the end of 2019/20.

As Leeds embark on life back in the Premier League, it’s been estimated by The Athletic that nearly £100m has been spent on transfers.

Investment is never a bad thing, particularly when it might come from an established sporting giant like the 49ers.

They have really laid low since taking their 10% stake in Leeds, but now the club is in the Premier League, it’s only natural that they want a bigger slice of the pie.

Radrizzani is doing a fine job at the moment, but even he would argue he isn’t as flush as some of the Premier League’s big hitters.

For Leeds to reach the level they want, they might well need investment.

The 49ers could have a big say in the future of this club.
