Faced without his Spanish creative outlet, Marcelo Bielsa has some thinking to do.

Pablo Hernandez, despite his advancing years, has continued to perform at another level both at Leeds and in the league as a whole. He’s fundamental to how Leeds attack and move, he’ll be sorely missed but Bielsa will not complain. Here’s how he’s expected to resolve the issue:

Kiko Casilla

Gjanni Alioski, Liam Cooper, Ben White, Luke Ayling

Helder Costa, Stuart Dallas, Kalvin Phillips, Mateusz Klich, Jack Harrison

Patrick Bamford

So it’s highly expected Bielsa will retain the 4-1-4-1. Dallas played in central midfield for large parts of when Pablo Hernandez was injured earlier in the season, this brought mixed results as, though it is not his natural position, Dallas himself was sorely missed at full-back. Leeds’ form has picked up in recent weeks with Dallas back down the flanks, though that’s not the only reason.

There’s a chance we could see Jamie Shackleton or Tyler Roberts, who are both set to return from injury, involved at some point too. Both these play in central midfield with Tyler playing a more advanced role. This is definitely more likely to be a solution used later on in the match, however.
