Following Northern Ireland’s heavy defeat to Norway on Monday night, Stuart Dllas has shared his interesting conversation with Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland.

Stuart Dallas starred for Leeds United as they stormed to the Championship title last season, chipping in with five goals and three assists from left-back, missing just one game all season.

It seemed incredible to see a player Leeds originally signed as a winger playing so well at full-back, with Marcelo Bielsa seemingly improving his output at the back tenfold.

However, followers of Northern Ireland will have known this was coming for years, given his exploits for the national team at left-wing-back throughout his career.

During the recent Nations League fixtures, Northern Ireland welcomed a new-look Norway side to Windsor Park, spearheaded by Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland, son of former Leeds United man Alfie Haaland.

There’s been a lot of discussion about Haaland’s connection to the Whites having been born here and his dad playing here too, but it would take an awful lot of effort for any team to prize him from Dortmund, let alone newly-promoted Leeds United doing so.

However, Stuart Dallas is hoping that the Norway star is up for it in the future, should Leeds go back in for him. Following their defeat to Norway, Dallas commented on his interaction with Haaland as they swapped shirts after the game. He stated (via BT Sport): “It was a nice touch. Obviously there’s a Leeds connection there but I didn’t think he’d want to swap shirts with me.

“It’s nice that he keeps an eye on Leeds and he wished me all the best in the Premier League and that shows a lot about the type of person he is.

“His performance was incredible. He’s only 20 and he has a big future ahead of him… maybe someday he’ll come to Leeds.”

There’s always that thought in the back of Leeds fans’ minds that maybe, just maybe, Haaland will want to follow his father’s footsteps and play for Leeds.

Whilst managed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Molde in 2017, Haaland said that he’d love to win the Premier League with Leeds United.

It’s clear we’re miles away from toppling the likes of Man City and Liverpool having just gained promotion but Andrea Radrizzani’s ambition stands us in good stead as a club.

You’d hope that at some point in his career that Haaland will take the plunge into the Premier League, while we can dream of it being for us.
