As Leeds United solider on without key defenders, Marcelo Bielsa has offered a positive update on the recovery of Adam Forshaw.
The Whites are just 24 hours away from their fifth game of the season as they look to finally get a win on the board.
It’s been a tough start to the campaign with some very testing fixtures up to this point, but a clash against the Magpies is one the players will be hopeful of taking three points from.
Bielsa had plenty to think about with regards to his team selection tomorrow night, as he sees his defensive options completely diminished after the defeat to Liverpool.
Depth has always been a quandary for the Argentine at Elland Road, and centre-back is the only position that looked very well covered heading into 2021/22.
One slot that hasn’t been recruited for was central midfield, with Adam Forshaw continuing his road to a full recovery while negotiations for key signings fell through in the summer.
After making his long-awaited return against Crewe in August, he was dealt another setback prior to the Sunday’s game.
However, it’s positive news for the 29-year-old with Bielsa offering this update on his fitness (via Phil Hay):
It’s good for our depth that he’s back because it just means we’ve got a last resort in place for if we have another crisis to solve.
I’m not holding out for Forshaw getting much game time aside from the cup this season, but extra numbers are always helpful.
With the Fulham clash on Tuesday, it could be a case of Bielsa using that to get him back up to speed.
Hopefully, he can just keep fit now for his own careers’ sake now.
