Marcelo Bielsa believes Leeds United defender, Robin Koch, played his best 45 minutes of the season in the 1-0 defeat to Wolves.
Leeds lost out 1-0 to Wolves on Monday evening, with Raul Jimenez scoring the game’s only goal on 70 minutes.
However, for the opening exchanges, Leeds were terrific and their failure to convert territory into a goal, ultimately, cost them.
For Bielsa, Koch produced an exceptional level in that opening 45.
Reflecting on Leeds’ defeat to Wolves, Bielsa was quizzed on what he’s seen from Koch so far.
The Germany international has played every minute of Leeds’ Premier League season and has looked assured, with extra confidence growing either side of the international break.
That’s not just the feelings of the fans either, with Bielsa (as per Leeds Live) full of praise for his centre-back.
He has had performances of a good level in all of his games.
In the first half against Wolves he had a performance above what he has already been showing which was good.
The 24-year-old finished the game against Wolves with a 93% passing accuracy, 10 ball recoveries and five interceptions – as per, LUFCDATA.
It’s hard to not be impressed by the performance of Robin Koch.
He’s been outstanding since signing, with a couple of cheap penalty concessions the only mark against his name.
Against Wolves he was superb. He dominated defensive duels, was sharp with his reading of the game and played some really progressive passes.
Bielsa is on the money. The opening 45 minutes for him were superb and his level didn’t really dip in the second-half.
By the end, he was unfortunate to be on the losing side, with a freak Jimenez goal the undoing of Leeds’ clean sheet.
