Leeds United could be set to welcome back more players to the squad in the coming weeks after Marcelo Bielsa’s latest injury update.

The Whites have dusted themselves off following defeat to Aston Villa and will be hopeful of ending the London curse when they make the trip to face West Ham United on Monday night.

It wasn’t the greatest performance from Bielsa’s men at Elland Road and they are suffering in some departments from a lack of depth behind key players who are sitting out.

We’ve seen Gaetano Berardi come back into the fold recently with 45 minutes in the under-23s.

On top of that, Rodrigo is edging closer to full fitness after his groin injury, as he continues to take part in training with the squad.

Not much word has been given on Kalvin Phillips’ return to training or to the under-23s, but a humorous video of him interrupting Raphinha’s press commitments shows he’s at Thorp Arch.

Marcelo Bielsa was asked about how close some of the players are to a return, and he had this brief, but very positive response to the question (via Leeds Live):

Some players coming back from injuries will play in the game tomorrow.

Mark Jackson’s under-23s are scheduled to play away at Wolves tomorrow.

It’s a vague hint, but it’s a huge hint nonetheless that some of these mentioned players will be back tomorrow.

How far they are from first-team action is another question, but it’s one step closer to having them back for the run-in.

We are pretty much safe from relegation but we’re better off finishing as strongly as we can to ensure we can use that momentum for next season.

This lineup is far stronger with Phillips and Rodrigo present and that needs to be the case for a very tough month in April.
