Weston McKennie completed a loan move to Leeds United last night, with the Whites emerging ahead of other suitors to conclude the deal for the Juventus and USMNT midfielder.
Leeds secured an initial loan with Juventus for McKennie, with an option to sign him permanently for a fee beginning at £30m.
However, an interesting claim has emerged that the new Leeds No.28 had been one of many players offered to Manchester United earlier in the window.

A tweet from Mark Ogden at ESPN has been discussing the plethora of options offered up at Old Trafford by agents or clubs.
McKennie is one of those offered to Man United, alongside Christian Pulisic and Memphis Depay. The latest is said to be Marcel Sabitzer amid an injury to Christian Eriksen.
Leeds, though, have McKennie through the door and a debut looms this weekend against Nottingham Forest.
Beyond Leeds’ trip to the City Ground, there are back-to-back fixtures against Man United on the horizon, including the chance of a home debut against the club’s bitter rivals.
Quiz: Can you remember Leeds United’s last 15 results v Nottingham Forest ahead of Premier League clash?

McKennie is a real high-profile name made available in this January transfer window.
The midfielder is a good age at 24 and has his best years firmly ahead of him. He’s had Champions League exposure and played at a World Cup as well, so was always likely to have a number of clubs sniffing around him.
That’s what makes it such a coup for Leeds to land his signature this month, with Man United’s emergence today only underlining it.
Fingers crossed he can have an impact in Leeds’ quest to survive this season, before making his move permanent.
