Daniel Farke’s side came out of the international break looking far more coherent than prior, aiming for their second win of the season against Millwall.
The Lions have had a mixed start in the league too under Gary Rowett, but couldn’t count on their raucous home support to get them over the line on Sunday.
How did Georginio Rutter get on?
There were two stars of the show at the New Den yesterday, with Joel Piroe taking his Leeds tally to three with a brace, scoring in either half to put Leeds 2-0 up.
However, Georginio Rutter was unplayable, as he linked up with Piroe for the first, before putting the second on a plate as he was slipped through by Dan James, only to return the favour, with James tumbling the ball into the path of Piroe into an empty goal.
Rutter got his own reward late in the game as a counter attack from James saw the Frenchman played through 1v1, and his finish was ruthless to cap off a wonderful 3-0 win.
Rutter takes to Instagram
The striker took to social media to post his reaction to a marvellous away win, as he posted this on Instagram:
Amongst those commenting on Rutter’s post was Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri, a fellow goalscorer at the weekend:
Hull City v Leeds predictions?
It’s just about how Rutter’s performance was summed up, he made it look easy in the final third yesterday.
His link-up with Piroe looks so smooth right now and they are only going to get more and more fluid in attack with more playing time.
Rutter has come in for a lot of unjustified stick in the past few months, but he’s proving his worth to the club right now.
