Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has admitted that he misses Leeds United winger Raphinha.

The pair were previously teammates at Sporting Lisbon, and it seems Fernandes remains keen to play alongside the Brazilian again.

Ever since joining Leeds from Rennes on the final day of the 2020 summer transfer window, Raphinha has been a key man for the Yorkshire club.

The 24-year-old has scored nine goals and provided nine assists in 37 top-flight games since the start of last season, winning plenty of admirers in the process.

That has previously seen the Brazilian linked with some of the Premier League’s biggest names. Manchester United and Liverpool are among those to have been linked with Raphinha.

A move to Old Trafford would of course see Raphinha and Fernandes link up, something it seems the United man believes could bring the best out of him.

Speaking about the influential Leeds winger, Fernandes was quoted by The Sun as saying: “I miss Raphinha. He is a player with whom I had a different chemistry from the others, he understood me at a glance.”

Raphinha himself has admitted that he remains in contact with Fernandes, who recently congratulated the Leeds man on his first international call-up for Brazil.

This does feel like something of a concern for those of a Leeds persuasion.

They are not going to want to lose a player of Raphinha’s huge talent, given his influence on the side, and especially not to a side such as Manchester United.

Indeed, you do get the impression that Raphinha seems rather settled at Elland Road, and could be happy to remain with Leeds for some time to come yet.

However, the strong relationship he clearly has with Fernandes could be one thing that may tempt him to change that, should the chance to play alongside him again emerge, so this could be one to keep an eye on.
