Manchester United have been dealt a major selection problem for their upcoming meetings with Leeds United.

That’s after midfielder Casemiro picked up a suspension, that is set to keep him out of both games against Jesse Marsch’s side.

With the original fixture between the two sides at Old Trafford having been postponed earlier in the season, that match has been rearranged to take place on Wednesday night.

That comes just four days before the pair are scheduled to face off at Elland Road, with those matches the next two on the calendar for Erik Ten Hag’s side.

As a result, the Red Devils will be unable to call upon the services of Casemiro in the centre of the park for either of those games.

The Brazil international was shown a straight red card, after VAR check, for placing two hands around the throat of Crystal Palace’s Will Hughes, during United’s 2-1 win over the Eagles on Saturday.

With that dismissal set to earn the 30-year-old a three-match ban, he will now unable to play a part in either of those meetings with Leeds in the next week.

This does feel like a major boost for Leeds when it comes to those meetings with United.

Casemiro has been a key figure for Ten Hag’s side so far this season, both pulling the strings and protecting defence effectively from the centre of the park.

He will therefore, be a big miss for these games, and with Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay currently injured, that does leave them short of options in the centre of midfield.

Indeed, this could see deadline day loan signing Marcel Sabitzer thrust into action for the Red Devils, something Leeds could look to exploit if he is yet to get fully up to speed with the demands of the Premier League.
