Leeds United could be handed the chance to sign Everton youngster Thierry Small, with reports that he is free to discuss terms with other clubs.

The under-23s have invested very well in the last two summers, as Mark Jackson guides the side to the PL2 Division One.

Three signings have come in the shape of Amari Miller, Sean McGurk, and Lewis Bate to improve the strength of the squad ahead of 2021/22.

However, the departure of Leif Davis on loan for the season means there’s a question of whether the club could do with another young left-back.

The club were linked with a move for young Everton full-back Thierry Small back in the beginning of April, as per the Daily Express.

Having made his debut in the FA Cup last season under Carlo Ancelotti, Small has been a core member of the under-23s in the PL2.

Now, Football Insider are claiming that the 17-year-old is free to open talks with other clubs, was Manchester United and Aston Villa both register interest too.

The defender’s recent birthday means that he is now eligible for a professional contract, but talks have stalled between the Toffees and Small, meaning a swoop could be in the offing.

There appears to be a number of clubs interested in Small and it says a lot about his abilities.

We need a natural left-back for the under-23s this season even though Liam McCarron has impressed recently.

The fact that he’s not signed a professional deal means that this wouldn’t cost too much to get over the line.

Even with how many prestigious clubs are in for him, if we are, I’d imagine we could thrash out a deal. We’ve shown that there’s a clear pathway to first-team football.
