Leeds United’s Charlie Cresswell issues Millwall promise after incredible debut

Quite weirdly yesterday, the bulk of Leeds United’s fanbase had eyes on Millwall’s result on the opening day of the EFL season.

Leeds have loaned both Jamie Shackleton and Charlie Cresswell to The Den this summer, in a bid to boost Millwall’s promotion hopes.

They got off to the perfect start yesterday, too, beating Stoke City 2-0.

Cresswell picked up both goals from set-pieces, showcasing his aerial dominance and mixing it with a solid defensive display.

Taking to Instagram, Cresswell promised it was just the start for Millwall this season:

Will Shackleton be a success at Millwall?

It’s funny how Leeds fans were almost cheering Millwall on yesterday.

Absolutely it’s the right thing to be doing, with two academy graduates plying their trade at The Den now.

Cresswell stole the show yesterday with an incredible debut and, fingers crossed, the entire loan goes as well as yesterday did for him.

You’d imagine that if it does, he will be back at Elland Road in 2023 and into the first-team.

That would be an extremely successful scenario for Leeds, and leave them thanking Millwall.
