With the international break coming to an end Leeds United host Birmingham City at Elland Road on Sunday in the hope of ending a poor run of form.

The opposition.

Birmingham have also had a poor start to the season having lost 7 of their opening 11 games. Former dog botherer general Lee Clark has a few injury concerns ahead of the game with Neal Eardley and David Murphy and Wade Elliott is doubtful after missing the last few games. Clark has generally had a difficult time since taking over Birmingham having managed the club through a difficult period with the off field problems surrounding owner Carson Yeung. In their last game before the break Bolton beat the Blues 2-1 to secure their first win of the season so we can expect Birmingham to be in the same boat as us and want a reaction. And of course it’s worth mentioning that we will have to keep an eye out for the big freak with a girls name who loves a goal against us! Of course, I’m on about Zigic.

Last season.

Last season was a frustrating and dull game with neither side impressing in a game that Leroy Lita won with a long range strike in the 76th minute. So, I think we can expect more of the same considering both teams current form.

Our possible team.

I can see a few changes being to the team that played against Derby. Sam Byram has now been passed fully fit so we can expect to see him play, possibly in the place of Lee Peltier at right back. Dom Poleon and Luke Murphy should also be in contention for a recall and the impressive Alex Mowatt should hold his place in the team. One player missing will be El-Hadji Diouf who will miss the game on compassionate leave as he attends the funeral of his mentor in Senegal.

Likely line up

Byram Lees Pearce Warnock
Austin
Murphy Tonge
Mowatt
McCormack Poleon

Head to head.

The last 10 games against Birmingham have seen us win 2, the blues an impressive 7 and the solitary draw which came at Elland Road in last season FA Cup. Another team which we struggle against is something that we can’t dwell on too much and have to end these records.

Predictions.

I can see in an unimpressive game that will finish 1-1 and I will tip Tom Lees to score from a set piece. I can’t see anything past a draw with either side struggling at the minute, I hope I’m wrong and hope we do win. IF we do win I can see being 1-0. Thanks for reading and feel free to let us know your predictions.
