Leeds United transfer rumours roundup

|

The playoffs aren’t even over yet and the rumour-mill is in full flow. You can’t go two hours without another player linked to Leeds. So why not put them all in one place, right here?

Kyle Bartley

He was always going to be linked after our defence fell to pieces without him, but it seems Leeds are quietly confident they can make this move happen. However it won’t be as straightforward as first thought as his Steven Gerrard is ready to bring him to Ibrox. According to Phil Hay, Bartley favours a move to Leeds, but it isn’t hard to imagine him ending up with Rangers considering he’s played there before also. This is a move that Radrizzani has to make happen, it will go a long way to convincing fans he’s learned from his prior mistakes.

Angus Gunn

The England U21 International keeper is currently training with the World Cup squad, a place he will most likely find himself in a few years. Gunn had an excellent year for Norwich and if Leeds believe he’s better than BPF, they should bring him in straight away. The only issue with this move is that it would only be a loan and it would hinder BPF’s development. I personally would prefer this signing to that of David Stockdale, who makes far too many errors at this level.

Abel Hernandez

One of the first rumours of the transfer window, there’s no doubting Hernandez’s quality, it’s just a case of would Leeds offer high enough wages to attract him to Elland Road? I feel as though this move is very unlikely to happen, but it would be excellent if it did.

John McGinn

As we wrote about here, Leeds are battling Celtic for the signing of John McGinn from Hibernian. If this move goes ahead, expect one or two of Leeds’ central midfielders to move on given the sheer numbers in that position.

Oli McBurnie

McBurnie spent the second half of last season on loan at Barnsley, scoring 9 in 20 appearances. He’s a Heckingbottom target so it doesn’t seem to be as urgent as the need for Hernandez is, as it’s still to be decided whether Heckingbottom is Leeds’ Head Coach next season. Along with Bartley, Rangers are competing with Leeds for McBurnie’s signature, although they are definitely ahead with this one.

As the summer progresses we’ll keep you all up to date with Leeds’ transfer rumours, if there’s one thing we can guarantee with Leeds, it’s that the off-season isn’t boring.
