Leeds United youngster Alfie McCalmont looks set to leave on-loan again next season, and Leeds have already offered him out for transfer.

With the under-23s shining while the first-team take to the Premier League, there has been good chance for some youngsters to go out and get senior experience.

A number of Mark Jackson’s academy players were shipped out to the EFL to get their first taste of regular first-team action.

Alfie McCalmont was one of those, as he joined Oldham Athletic in League Two.

As the season came to an end, McCalmont left Oldham with a brilliant season under his belt.

Thought to be a holding midfielder, McCalmont made his name at Boundary Park scoring screamer after screamer, ending on eight goals and six assists.

He looks set to secure another loan deal this summer but higher up than League Two.

Now interestingly, Peterborough Today have reported that Leeds have offered McCalmont to newly-promoted Championship side Peterborough, with an unnamed Posh player heading the other way.

However, that has been revealed to have been flat-out refused.

Peterborough director of football Barry Fry stated:

Leeds offered to swap the player for one of ours and we turned it down flat.

I think McCalmont could easily push for a move at the high end of League One, if not a lower Championship outfit.

He was outstanding in a struggling League Two side and is only going to get better.

It might seem a big jump to go to Peterborough but it’s worth offering him because McCalmont will be keen to get more playing time.

The interesting thing here is the question of who that mystery player is.
