Leeds United have been backed to make a move for Barcelona right-back Sergino Dest this summer.

Jesse Marsch will be looking to put his stamp on the Leeds squad this summer with key signings, and there are more than a few areas that he could look at to strengthen.

The full-back positions are an area of weakness lately with injuries and inconsistency, and it could mean Leeds look into signing a right-back in the summer.

TEAMtalk reported recently that the club could be eyeing up another signing from Barcelona, with a move for Sergino Dest being lined up.

The American international is someone who makes a lot of sense for Leeds as a young, attack-minded full-back.

Would Dest be a good signing?

Leeds could be in with a good shout of bringing in Dest on the basis they already have good links with the Catalan side thanks to signing Junior Firpo last summer, as much as his £13million arrival has been a failure thus far.

That’s according to journalist Pete O’Rourke who had this to say on the matter to GiveMeSport:

“Leeds do seem to have a decent relationship with Barcelona, having signed Junior Firpo in the summer.

“You can’t rule this one out, especially with the American links.”

The fact he’s American could have a say in this with Marsch in charge, but it’ll still be a tough deal to pull off.

It was reported in Spain that Dest could be used as leverage to persuade Bayern Munich to allow Robert Lewandowski to leave for the Nou Camp in the summer.

If that’s the case, we’ve got one hell of a fight on our hands to sign him if Barca are aiming for that deal.

I can see a Premier League move being desirable, but it would be tough to convince him to move elsewhere other than Bayern.
