Leeds United rumour roundup

It may be a bank holiday weekend but that doesn’t stop the Leeds United rumours from circulating. Obviously, most of them revolve around Leeds’ ongoing managerial search. However the main one going round at the minute is the reports that Hadi Sacko is set to sign for Leeds for £1.7m. Leeds reportedly had an option to buy Sacko attached to the loan deal, but that hasn’t been triggered yet. Considering Garry Monk has now left and he brought Sacko to the club, you would think Leeds may move on, considering Sacko’s season sank quicker than the Titanic in 2017. However I could see why they’d go through with it, if we now have money it isn’t too steep a price to pay, although I’d be hoping he wasn’t going to start games to be honest.

The next manager odds for Leeds have developed over the last few days, Karanka is still the favourite with Ranieri second favourite, despite him denying it personally. After those two there are a whole host of names, including Simon Grayson, Alan Pardew, Michael Laudrup (Somehow he’s got to 10/1 despite the fact it was a rumour started on Twitter) and even Pep Clotet himself. Although it seems Clotet may now have left the building.

Pontus Jansson is being Pontus Jansson and causing a bit of concern, he said to a Swedish paper that he wasn’t sure whether Monk leaving effected his future or not, hardly reassuring, is it? Leeds believe they have Jansson signed permanently, despite the Fifa dispute started by Torino recently. With the departure of Monk, it is likely that we don’t see Bartley play for Leeds again, so Pontus staying is absolutely vital.

Finally, the David Stockdale rumour refuses to go away. He appears to be leaving Brighton and this tweet

gave a slight hint that he may be coming to Leeds, as that is where his family lives. It would be a strange move considering Rob Green was excellent last season and got given an extra year on his deal, but in the long-term it would make sense.
