Rodrigo Moreno stepped up his Leeds United return by featuring for the club’s under-23s this afternoon.

Leeds went without Rodrigo in the two fixtures prior to the November international break, with the forward also unable to go away with Spain.

Marcelo Bielsa gave Rodrigo 20 minutes from the bench yesterday against Arsenal, but there was a start for him against West Brom’s kids this afternoon.

Bielsa appeared to hold Rodrigo back yesterday and did admit that his club-record signing needed more minutes to get back up to speed.

Rodrigo was involved from the off, featuring for 45 minutes for the 23s against West Brom.

He created a number of chances, but was brought off at half-time with Leeds 1-0 down.

Tyler Roberts and Helder Costa – two other senior players given minutes – scored off the bench to turn the game around.

If Rodrigo has come through this 45 minutes free of injury, which it seems he has, it’s great news for Leeds.

Against Arsenal, the performance of the side went up a level when Rodrigo came on and he was unlucky not to score.

Seeing him back in the 23s always puts your heart in your mouth as you worry about injury, but the more minutes he plays there, the closer he will be to starting.

It’s Everton up next on Saturday and this might well be a sign that Bielsa is ready to put him back in the XI.

Additionally, it’s good to see Roberts and Costa score. They didn’t feature yesterday, so them knocking on the door of the XI once more is no bad thing.
