Leeds United are pushing to sign Wilfried Gnonto from FC Zurich for a fee of €5million.
The Whites are in pursuit of strikers as the transfer deadline looms at the end of this month.
A younger option is seemingly on the cards with Leeds not wanting to bring in a signing to displace any of the current squad, but to add further depth and competition for places.
Wilfried Gnonto appears to be the most strongly-linked striker to Leeds at the moment, with reports from Italy claiming talks are underway with FC Zurich to find an agreement.
The 18-year-old has made a solid start to the season after scoring in a Europa League qualifier against Linfield.
Now, journalist Nicolo Schira has provided an update on matters, claiming that Leeds are pushing for a €5million agreement with the Swiss club after agreeing personal terms with Gnonto:
Should Gnonto go straight into the first-team?
Yes
No
Get it done.
I think it might be difficult for Gnonto to make an instant impact, but for that price it has to be done.
He’s a full Italy international with a goal and assist to his name in four appearances, we’d be silly not to pay €5million.
I don’t think he’s the answer to our glaring lack of striker depth, but he certainly helps our attack.
With five subs, having young talent is a great boost and Gnonto adds to that.
I’m excited to see if we can pull this off, but I still harbour concerns over Bamford and cover in that department.
