It appears as though Cody Drameh may not be leaving Leeds United during the current transfer window.

That’s after a report from Leeds Live revealed that the right-back is keen to stay at Elland Road and fight for his place in the coming season.

Last season, Drameh left Leeds during the January transfer window to join Cardiff City on loan, seemingly in search of more regular game time, with Luke Ayling the club’s first choice at right-back.

That is despite the fact that then manager Marcelo Bielsa, had suggested that he wanted to keep the defender at Elland Road for the second half of the campaign.

Since then, the battle for game time at right-back has got even harder for Drameh, with the signing of Rasmus Kristensen from Salzburg adding to the club’s options in that position.

However, according to this latest update, Drameh is not planning to leave Leeds during this transfer window, and instead wants to fight for his place this season.

It is thought that Kristensen will be Leeds’ first-choice on the right of defence this season, but that the 20-year-old is still backing himself to take his opportunity in the side when it comes.

This does feel like a somewhat surprising decision for Drameh to have made.

Given his desire to go out on loan last season, the addition of Kristensen would have suggested that the young full-back would be looking for a move elsewhere again this summer.

However, you do have to admire his ambition and confidence in himself here, and given the success he had at Cardiff, there is an argument that he could certainly be a reliable option for Leeds.

Indeed, with Ayling set to miss the start of the season through injury, having Drameh around as cover and competition for Kristensen could certainly be a boost for Jesse Marsch in the next few months.
