Leeds United player ratings v Sunderland – More of the same from Leeds

|

Today’s game should be a rarity, but in Leeds United’s world it was the norm. Leeds had more than enough chances to win but just didn’t take them yet again.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell – 8 – Nothing he could do about the goal but otherwise solid all round today. Made a wonderful save from a Fletcher header and another from McManaman right at the end.

Into the defence…

Stuart Dallas – 6 – I think it’s quite clear he’s not a right-back at this stage. His crossing was also extremely poor today, with one outlier.

Paudie O’Connor – 7 – A very solid debut, he didn’t look out-of-place at all. He looked calm on the ball which is already a step ahead of Cooper and Pennington.

Pontus Jansson – 7 – Helped O’Connor out well today, the referees really need to pay more attention to him from corners, he’s constantly being fouled.

Gaetano Berardi – 2 – An average performance followed by a typical Berardi meltdown. He’s become a liability and we should really be aiming for better next season.

Into the midfield…

Ronaldo Vieira – 8 – Possibly the MOTM today after Hernandez, his passing was on form and he didn’t lose a 50/50 all day.

Kalvin Phillips – 7 – Some great defensive work and passes combined with the odd bit of wasteful play, if that doesn’t sum up Phillips then I don’t know what does.

Samu Saiz – 5 – Samu has actually been off form for a while now, he waits too long to pull the trigger and his decision-making is shocking at times.

Into the attack…

Pablo Hernandez – 9 – The best player we have and it really isn’t that close. He constantly plays at a higher level than everybody else.

Gjanni Alioski – 5 – Extremely wasteful with two of the worst shots I’ve ever seen today. How he missed that header at the end I will never know.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga – 5 – Didn’t really do anything, whether that’s his fault or not he just wasn’t a factor in the game.

Right now we are the worst performing team in the Championship.
The sooner the season is over (again!) the better.
Tough road ahead for Sunderland if they go down.
Would not wish that on my worst enemy.

    MOT!!
