Leeds United player ratings v Bristol City – 20 minutes of magic at Elland Road

|

Leeds decided to wait until the final 20 minutes to play football today and were so close to taking all 3 points. Unfortunately we’ll have to make do with 1.

Felix Wiedwald – 0 – I don’t really care what he did after the first goal, that’s absolutely criminal. He should not be our keeper next season. We would have won the game with a decent keeper today.

Into the defence…

Vurnon Anita – 5 – Was good going forward, less so on the defensive side of things.

Matthew Pennington – 3 – The man has triangle feet. He cannot kick a ball in a straight line, it’s quiet concerning. He got bullied today.

Pontus Jansson – 5 – Jansson had a slow start to the game but was our only capable defender for most of the game. He was still below par for his standards.

Laurens De Bock – 3 – Anonymous today really, I don’t think he’s a bad player but he hasn’t exactly done much in his Leeds career so far.

Into the midfield…

Stuart Dallas – 4 – Had a half-chance in the first half that he hit straight at the keeper, didn’t do much else really.

Adam Forshaw – 6 – Forshaw was invisible in the first half but when he stepped his game up so did Leeds, the last 20 minutes were the best I’ve seen him play for Leeds.

Eunan O’Kane – 3 – O’Kane was awful today, he got pushed off the ball too easily throughout the game and his passes were going all over the shop.

Pablo Hernandez – 7 – Even Hernandez wasn’t up to it in the first half but when he got a grip of the game Leeds really improved. It’s pivotal that Leeds get him another contract.

Into the attack…

Pierre-Michel Lasogga – 7 – As I’ve said before, give this man any sort of decent service and he will score goals. Incredibly unlucky not to win it at the end.

Caleb Ekuban – 5 – He has good movement and link-up play but he seems scared to score at times, he needs to score a goal soon for his confidence.

Kemar Roofe – 7 – Took his goal well after he’s taken a lot of stick from the fans lately. There’s a good player in there somewhere he just needs to be more consistent.

For the majority of the game it looked like another national embarrassment for Leeds but they came back well and should have won at the end. With Saiz back on Wednesday night we need a win if we’re to keep our season alive.

Let us know what you thought of the game today!

Paul Robinson said it all about Weidwald. Absolute crap – and we need a new keeper NOW not next season.

  • graham eldridge says:

    agree need a keeper asap

  • Andy b says:

Viedvald is a liability every game. I question the management in particular for not getting a decent keeper in the transfer window. Would you have any confidence in viedvald. No I didn’t think so.

  • Ken Berney says:

Yes we need a keeper who will instill confidence in the players in front of him lets see how we improve as a unit when all players become available for selection as the manager said no hiding place for any player

  • John says:

Forshaw 6, pontus 5??? Can’t agree with that mate, they both showed their metal today. Forshaw was different class.

  • Mark says:

The only good thing today was the fans!!and it showed on the pitch. when we got singing the players rose to the atmosphere and banged 2 goals in and should have won it.lets hope the players rise up and start paying the loyal fans back with some good performances MOT

  • Henryv says:

I am really pleased for the new manager!!
    Just what he needed.
    Too many weaknesses in defence.
Overrun in midfield in the first half.
    Nothing new there.
It is a shame the Boss cannot bring some decent players in.
We need a quality goalkeeper, two full backs, and a centre back.
Let us pray the Boss can work a miracle with what he has got – just to stick it to Don Goodman, if nothing else!!

  • Peter coombs says:

After a terrible start that draw feels like a win our fans different class.

  • Neil Abbott says:

I said last week, forget the play offs concentrate on whose not needed next season. We already know 2 thats wiedwald and Okane so tske them out of the squad now. Doing that will allow putting a couple of the u23s on the bench.

  • Patrick says:

Forget about keeping our season alive. We need to forget about play off places. It’s not going to happen. It can’t when you only have 4 or 5 good players in the squad. Let’s just hope we stay mid table and draw a line under this disaster of a season and build for next season. Get rid of the crap we have and hopefully build again next season. We need to get rid of that muppet ORTA.

    M.O.T.

  • Andy Madder says:

How can you give anyone 7 out of 10 for a good 20 minutes?

  • Andy Madder says:

I’ll remember that next time i have a review at work 🙂
