Leeds United player ratings v Barnsley – Saiz loses the plot as Leeds win at home

|

Not the prettiest game to watch but it’s good to finally see a win again. Once more the young players shined brighter than the rest, but the jury is still out on Heckingbottom. Into the ratings…

Bailey Peacock-Farrell – 8 – Another strong showing from BPF, including one incredible save that he had no right to make. It remains to be seen as to whether the defence will ever be capable enough to get him the clean sheet he deserves.

Into the defence…

Matthew Pennington – 5 –Are we sure this isn’t Scott Wootton wearing a mask?

Paudie O’Connor – 7 – The own goal was very unlucky, other than that it was interesting to see Paudie was the defender most vocal, organising the line. It speaks volumes.

Pontus Jansson – 7 – Had one extremely dodgy moment where he left the ball and Barnsley almost scored, but other than that he had a solid enough game.

Tom Pearce – 8 – Got beaten once all day and that resulted in the worst miss I have ever seen. With the help of a deflection he took his goal extremely well, it looks like we’ve the academy has produced another gem.

Into the midfield…

Gjanni Alioski – 6 – Granted he got his goal but he was extremely wasteful in possession today. Missed a sitter early on too.

Kalvin Phillips – 6 – The more noticeable of the midfield two today, whether that’s due to his ridiculous hair or football is debatable.

Ronaldo Vieira – 5 – A lot of hard tackling from Vieira and not too much else, he really needs to work on his passing.

Pablo Hernandez – 3 – One of the worst performances I’ve seen from Pablo at Elland Road, a complete no-show.

Into the attack…

Samu Saiz – 2 – I’ve been trying to remember the last time Samu put in a good performance, it’s a difficult one. He’s constantly moaning and wasteful in possession, without a doubt he needs to improve next season. He looked angry when being subbed off and then confirmed that theory by kicking a water bottle in the dugout. He needs to sort himself out because he’s looking like a burden rather than one of our best players at the minute.

Kemar Roofe – 7 – Roofe had a slow start to the game but grew into it and the Alioski goal was all on him, he’s much better when running in behind rather than dropping deep.

Let us know what you thought of the game today!

I agree Mark. Let’s keep the young lads but as far as the rest go,I couldn’t care less if we never see them again. We need 7 or 8 players for next season, but not any shite that Orta might buy. I wouldn’t let him buy ice cream. That Muppet hasn’t a clue.

    MOT!!!!!!!

    Great crowd – poor game.
Pablo played as if he was already gone.
    Samu was worse.
Tom getting his goal made it all worthwhile.
Heart goes out to all relegated teams!!
We live to fight another day. Just!!
