Leeds United centre-back Joe Rodon is loving life at Elland Road since joining on loan from Tottenham, according to his Wales and parent club teammate Ben Davies.

The Whites had to tap into the loan market in August in order to complete their squad under Daniel Farke, with three signings made from Premier League sides on a temporary basis.

Two came from Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham, those being Joe Rodon and Djed Spence, both aiming to showcase their top-flight quality in the second tier, having earned moves from the EFL to North London previously.

Joe Rodon latest: Ben Davies loving centre-back’s form

Rodon was at the heart of another huge result for Leeds as they were forced to cling on against a Plymouth side that they should have dispatched of much earlier given the spread of chances.

Dominating in the air and distributing the ball with ease, Leeds have got the best of both worlds with Rodon at centre-half, not at all struggling to come into the side this season.

His Spurs and Wales teammate Ben Davies has since spoken about his form at Leeds, emphasising his joy at seeing Rodon do so well, and enjoying his time here too (via Wales Online):

“It is difficult. Sometimes people forget how challenging it is going somewhere and then you have to move every nine months to a new place. But I think he really seems to have found himself a home at Leeds.

“Joe is a terrific player. Every time I play with him with Wales he is very solid, good on the ball and I think we have a good understanding. To see him have success at Leeds, it really does make me happy.

“Joe is one of my best mates in football, so we speak all the time. He is the type of player that, when he is at somewhere he is feeling valued and he is getting a good run of games, he is a really, really good defender and I think he is showing that right now.”

Boost for Leeds’ chances of signing him?

Fans have been calling for a permanent deal to be put in place for Rodon ever since his debut at the club back in August, but his form has only gone on to strengthen that view at Elland Road.

It was revealed last week by Phil Hay on The Square Ball podcast that a £15million asking price was set by Spurs when Leeds first made contact to bring in Rodon, and with his contract winding down towards being in the final year in 24/25, he represents someone who is only going to become more of a bargain in the new year and beyonh.

What we are seeing now is that the Welshman is clearly so happy to be here at a club that are appreciating his undoubted quality, something not happening at his parent club.

If Davies himself is coming out to say this, then it’s fairly obvious Leeds have a player that would jump at the chance of signing a long-term deal.

It’s such a boost to know that is the case, especially if we’re promoted this season, knowing a core part to that would be staying on – an immediate improvement on our last return to the top-flight when we failed to secure Ben White.
