Leeds United‘s Cody Drameh was omitted from the squad for the defeat at Villa Park against Aston Villa.

The Whites are expected to have a number of outgoing players this month, in a mixture of permanent and loan exits, as has already been seen with the permanent departure of Mateusz Klich to the MLS and loan of Leo Hjelde to Rotherham United.

Leeds are said to be fielding interest in Drameh among other players this month, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, who wrote: “There is expected to be further outgoing movement in terms of loans and permanent exits, with Cody Drameh and other youngsters attracting interest.”

Drameh has been linked with a move to Burnley and Watford recently as well as Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle United, too.

The omission leaves Drameh in a difficult position as to whether or not he simply has a future with the club long-term.

He was hugely impressive from the bench against his former side Cardiff City in the FA Cup, so to not be included at all in the matchday squad is somewhat bewildering.

Many Leeds fans were frustrated that the 21-year-old had been left out, given that neither Luke Ayling nor Rasmus Kristensen have played particularly well since the Premier League’s restart.

The big updated Cody Drameh quiz – Can Leeds United fans score 20/20?

In what year was Cody Drameh born?

He was excellent against Cardiff, and could have been in line for a start at Villa Park, let alone being involved in the matchday squad.

This feels like one the club is currently getting wrong and will be one which turns into a long-term regret.

He is probably the player with the highest ceiling of all of Leeds’ right-back options and his pathway to senior football has been poorly handled. Drameh should leave for the sake of his career.

Stupid decision. He must look at Rasmus Kristensen and wonder ‘how the hell is this imposter ahead of me’.
