Leeds United centre-back Diego Llorente has been named in the Spain squad for their upcoming Nations League fixtures.

With the World Cup just two months away, these current international squads are a huge indicator of a player’s chances of making the final squads for this winter.

Leeds have two regulars in the Spain squad in Rodrigo and Diego Llorente, but only one of them has made it in thanks to the former’s shoulder injury.

Llorente will be looking to get his form back on track after two worrying performances for Leeds in the Premier League.

He took to Instagram to share his delight at returning to the Spain training camp for these fixtures:

“The work has begun! Happy to be at this #nationsleague rally to play these two @sefutbol games.”

Who should start at left-centre-back going forward?

Two games with Spain could be just what Llorente needs to restore his form after the last two performances for us.

There ought to be no argument where him being dropped is concerned, with Liam Cooper seemingly back to full fitness and Pascal Struijk shining.

However, we could do with having Llorente back to his best just so that we have some strength in depth.

It’s been a case of taking one step forward and one step back when it’s come to our centre-back options in the last year.
