Leeds United centre-back Diego Llorente has reacted to his call-up to the Spanish national team, sending a message of suport to the injuyred Aymeric Laporte.
The Whites’ club campaign is over but there is very little time for some of the players to relax before they’re in action for their national sides.
Next month’s Nations League fixtures see a busy international schedule, and Leeds are set to be well represented.
Is Aaronson a good signing?
One of the latest to be named in his nation’s squad is Spaniard Diego Llorente, who was called up to Luis Enrique’s group for the upcoming games.
He takes the place of Manchester City’s Aymeric Laporte, who picked up a muscular issue earlier in May in a win over Wolves.
Llorente reacted to the update on Instagram, where he shared a message with the Man City defender:
Laporte responded with: “Thanks brother“
I don’t think Llorente has been great this season despite a strong start, but it shows he’s still highly rated by his country.
Llorente was our best centre-back in the back end of the 2020/21 season, and there is undoubtedly a quality player there.
It’s a shame we haven’t seen this consistently due to injuries and the team changing around him when he is playing.
I think staying up has actually ensured he stays here, because relegation would have put a huge dampener on his chances of making the World Cup squad.
