Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw is likely to miss his side’s trip to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

That’s according to a report from The Yorkshire Evening Post, who say that the 30-year-old is currently struggling with an ankle problem.

Forshaw has of course, endured plenty of injury problems in recent times, missing almost two years of first-team action between 2019 and 2021 due to a hip problem.

The midfielder did manage 26 appearances in all competitions for the Whites last season, but has featured just four times in total during the current campaign.

Indeed, the 30-year-old was not included in the matchday squad for Sunday’s goalless draw with Aston Villa, and it seems he will again be absent for this weekend’s clash with Palace, for the same reason.

According to this latest update, Forshaw missed that game with Villa due to a twisted ankle, which is now also expected to keep him out this weekend’s clash with Patrick Vieira’s side.

As things stand, Forshaw’s contract with Leeds is set to expire at the end of this season, although the club do have the option to extend that deal by a further 12 months.

You can’t hep but feel sorry for Forshaw as one setback after another continues to hit him.

The midfielder works so hard to get back fit after each injury, yet it often seems like the next one is not far away right now, making it so hard to get the game time he wants.

Indeed, with Tyler Adams and Marc Roca performing so well in the centre of the park right now, it is hard enough for him to get those opportunities, without having to deal with these fitness issues as well.

With that in mind, it is hard not to get something of a feeling that Forshaw is now starting to face something of an uncertain future at Elland Road.
