Leeds United are interested in a possible move for Sevilla winger Lucas Ocampos during the summer transfer window.

That’s according to a report from Football Insider, who say that a number of Premier League sides are starting to take an interest in the Argentine international.

It could be a busy summer for Leeds, as they look to strengthen their squad with the view to pushing further up the Premier League table next season.

Now it seems as though one potential target has emerged for the Whites, in the form of Sevilla winger Ocampos.

According to this latest report, both Leeds and Wolves have been taking an interest in the 26-year-old, as they look to add to their attacking outlets in the transfer market.

There are currently just over three years remaining on Ocampos’ contract – which includes a £62million release clause – securing his future with Sevilla until the end of the the 2023/24 season.

That release clause is apparently more than either Leeds or Wolves could afford, but it is thought that Sevilla could be willing to sell Ocampos for less, as a result of the huge financial impact of the events of the past 12 months.

In total, Ocampos has scored 24 goals and provided nine assists in 80 appearances in all competitions for Sevilla, since joining from Marseille for a reported £13million back in the summer of 2019.

This could well be one that is worth looking into for Leeds.

There have been suggestions recently that the Yorkshire club could be willing to let Helder Costa leave Elland Road this summer, and they would have to bring in a winger to replace him if that happens.

That is a role that Ocampos would seemingly be more than capable of filling, and it would be yet another show of strength and intent from Leeds if they were to pull this deal off.

However, the interest from elsewhere means that even without the release clause, this may not be cheap for Leeds, and they would have to be careful not to spend too much here, when they will still have other areas of the squad to improve with their spending once the transfer window reopens.
