Leeds United are one of four Premier League teams interested in signing Midtjylland midfielder Jens Cajuste.

That’s according to a report from Swedish outlet Expressen, who say talks have already been held about a potential deal.

Central midfield remains an area that Leeds are yet to add to this summer, and it now seems as though that is still something they are keen to address.

That has seemingly now led them to Cajuste, who has made 67 appearances for Midtjylland since joining in 2018, while also racking up five senior appearances for Sweden.

According to this latest update, Leeds are showing an interest in the 21-year-old, although they are now alone in doing so.

Wolves, Crystal Palace and Newcastle are also thought to be interested in Cajuste, and it is claimed that talks have been held both with the player’s representatives, and Midtjylland.

The Danish side are said to be holding out for £11.8million for Cajuste, having already reportedly seen French side Rennes make an £8.4million offer for the midfielder.

Meanwhile, those interested Premier League clubs are now expected to be readying bids for Cajuste.

This could be a smart piece of business for Leeds.

Midfield is a position they still need to strengthen in this summer, and Cajuste is a promising player who could offer them an option in that position for many years to come.

Indeed, you also feel as though Cajuste may fit the back-up role to Kalvin Phillips better than some of the more established and experienced other targets they have been linked with this summer.

Add to that the fact he appears to be cheaper as well, which helps Leeds from a financial perspective, and this does seem like it would be a sensible move for the Whites to make.
