Leeds United figure confirms club have stepped up pursuit of big-money agreement

|

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani is reportedly stepping up his pursuit to purchase Seria A club Salernitana.

The Leeds chief has been very good to this club and has provided an incredible amount of stability since fully taking over in 2017.

However, with his main Leeds goal achieved in clinching promotion, he looks to be branching out into other clubs.

Reports from Italy claimed that the Italian businessman was set to table an offer for newly-promoted Serie A side Salernitana, with the fee Leeds looking at being around €50million.

The interest arises from the fact that Salernitana’s owner is also the owner of Lazio, Claudio Lotito, and regulations state that the same person cannot have financial interests in two clubs of the same division in Italy.

La Citta Di Salerno have retrieved quotes from Leeds board member Sandro Mennucci, who has confirmed the Whites owner’s push to complete this takeoever.

He stated:

We made our offer, defined in every detail, on Wednesday. Emphasising it is valid for 10 days. There were meetings on Thursday morning and subsequently between the consultants representing Salernitana and those of Radrizzani, but no answer has come.

It’s good to see he’s exploring other ventures because it could be very important to Leeds building a network across Europe.

Whether or not this goes through remains to be seen but Radrizzani’s making all the right steps to establish Leeds as a powerful entity once again.

It’s a steady process but promotion has propelled us massively forward and if we have another season like the one just gone, the sky’s the limit.

This is perhaps the most concrete development yet for this interest, given that it’s someone from the Leeds end revealing it.
