It could be an anxious evening for Leeds United on Tuesday with regards to the situation around Raphinha.
That’s after a report from Globo Esporte claimed that the winger is set to start for Brazil against Argentina tonight.
Ever since joining up with Brazil for the first time during the October international break, Raphinha has become a key figure for his national team.
The 24-year-old has already won four senior caps for his country, scoring twice and providing a further two assists in that time.
Now it seems as though Raphinha is well set to add to that tally again on Tuesday, as Brazil begin to wind down their World Cup qualification campaign.
According to this latest update, although Brazil could make up to three changes to face their old rivals tonight, Raphinha is still expected to start against Argentina.
Brazil’s win over Colombia on Friday secured their place at next year’s World Cup, while victory for Argentina tonight could secure their place in Qatar, depending on results elsewhere.
This does feel like it could make for a nervous evening for those of a Leeds United persuasion.
Matches between Brazil and Argentina are always heated affairs, and Leeds fan may be concerned about that leading to Raphinha picking up some sort of knock.
That of course, would represent a huge blow to Leeds, given the winger’s importance to the side amid their rather slow start to the season.
Never the less, even with qualification secured, a match with Argentina is one Brazil are always going to want to win. It would therefore, be no surprise to see Raphinha start, considering the impact he has made for them since his international debut.
