Leeds United eyeing summer raid for nine-goal striker from European club

|

Leeds United are interested in signing Red Bull Salzburg forward Junior Adamu this summer.

That’s according to a report from Sky Sports Austria, who claim that a number of other clubs are also interested in signing the 21-year-old.

Jesse Marsch has already swooped on his old club once to add to his options at Elland Road this summer, with midfielder Brenden Aaronson making the move from Salzburg to Leeds.

Right-back Rasmus Kristensen also looks set to make that switch in the coming weeks, and it seems Marsch may not be done with his raid on Salzburg there either.

According to this latest update, Leeds are now also interested in signing Adamu from the Austrian champions.

The 21-year-old enjoyed his first season as a regular feature for Salzburg during the 2021/22 campaign, where he scored nine goals in 43 appearances in all competitions.

As well as Leeds, it is thought that Southampton, West Ham and a number of Bundesliga clubs are all interested in the striker, who will apparently be available for a fee of around £8.5million this summer.

This does look as though it could be a rather good signing for Leeds this summer.

Patrick Bamford’s fitness issues during the 2021/22 highlighted the need for some extra cover and competition in the centre forward position, if Leeds are to be competitive in the Premier League.

The addition of Adamu would obviously provide them with that, and at 21-years-old, he could prove to be an asset for many years to come yet.

A fee of £8.5million should be affordable for Leeds as well, so this does feel like another deal that could be worth pursuing for the Whites, as Marsch looks to make his connection pay once again.
