Leeds United are considering a move to sign goalkeeper Ben Foster this summer.

That’s according to a report from The Daily Mail (25/06, p110), who say that manager Jesse Marsch is keen to add an experienced ‘keeper to their ranks before the start of next season.

Foster is currently a free agent after being released by Watford this summer, following the expiration of his contract at Vicarage Road.

The 39-year-old featured in 26 league games for the Hornets last season, but was unable to prevent them suffering relegation from the Premier League.

However, it seems the former England international could still find himself back in the Premier League sooner rather than later.

According to this latest update, Leeds have mentioned Foster as a possible target, as they look to add some more experience to their goalkeeping ranks this summer.

It looks as though Kiko Casilla could be on his way out of Leeds this summer, which would leave the young duo of Illan Meslier and Kristoffer Klaesson as the Elland Road club’s two senior ‘keeper options.

This could be a rather useful signing for Leeds in fairness.

With Casilla seemingly set to be moved on by the club this summer, it does feel as though they could benefit from the addition of an experienced ‘keeper, to help aid Meslier with his development as a number one.

There are few more experienced ‘keepers than Foster still playing, so he could help the Frenchman in that sense, and would also be able to do a job himself if called upon.

Given he is available on a free transfer, and therefore wouldn’t take much out of the transfer budget needed for other targets, this looks like one that could be worth pursuing for the Whites.
