Leeds United are said to be monitoring the loan market in the January window as they look to add key signings to their side for the second half of the season.

Leeds’ Championship campaign at the moment sees them firmly in the hunt for promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Like every club around them, Leeds will be looking to the January window for signings that can boost their chances of finishing in the top two.

Football Insider reported this week that Leeds are going to be looking at loan and permanent signings, with two loan slots left in their squad after signing three in the summer window: Joe Rodon, Djed Spence, and Jaidon Anthony.

The plan for Leeds is said to be to look at players who have struggled for game time in the top flight, offering them a chance to showcase their quality in the second tier.

Here, we look at two players who could be a viable option for Leeds when the new year rolls around…

Sergio Gomez

At times last season, it looked as though Sergio Gomez was going to push into Pep Guardiola’s reckoning at left-back for Manchester City, but at 23-years-old, he’s regressed this season in that regard.

Being frozen out of Man City’s lineup isn’t something to turn your nose up at for a player, though, as many would take Kalvin Phillips back in a heartbeat.

For Gomez, he presents exactly what Leeds need from their left-back in possession – capable of inverting very comfortably to form part of the midfield build-up, while also being just as strong on the wing too overlapping someone like Crysencio Summerville.

Whether he’d drop down to the Championship is another question, but he definitely fits the bill of what Leeds need, as well as struggling for minutes at the moment.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi

Speaking of Summerville, it’s clear that his ability as a right-footer on the left wing would be complimented by someone of similar ball-carrying talent on the other flank.

Leeds have a number of right-footers that are good, but not able to offer what Summerville does as they are on the right and unable to cut inside and allow a full-back to support them.

Crystal Palace’s 21-year-old Jesurun Rak-Sakyi looks like the perfect option, having proven to be too good for League One last season and now surely going to find game time hard to come by as Michael Olise returns to peak form.

A seriously skilful winger, Rak-Sakyi is perhaps a strong loan in the Championship away from proving he’s ready for the Premier League, and he’d fit perfectly on the other side to Summerville, with Djed Spence in tandem.
