Leeds United have reportedly agreed to send right-back Cody Drameh on loan to Championship side Luton Town this month.

Leeds’ investment in the defence has led to a few defenders in the youth setup having their futures up in the air this month.

Leo Hjelde has sealed an exit to Rotherham United for the season, while the chances of Cody Drameh getting first-team minutes in the Premier League remain slim.

With Luke Ayling and Rasmus Kristensen getting the nod over Drameh at right-back, talk of an exit was never out of the question for the Leeds man.

Whether he left on loan or permanently was up for debate, though, given his frustrations at the lack of game time under Marcelo Bielsa and now Jesse Marsch.

However, Leeds look to have sanctioned another temporary January exit, with Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas revealing the club have agreed to send him to Luton Town in the Championship:

A loan exit for Drameh is the best-case scenario for him and Leeds right now.

There was a real fear that his lack of opportunity here would have seen him push to leave permanently, and you wouldn’t have blamed him for that.

He’s in need of playing time, and we aren’t offering him that, even though he should be getting a chance.

Drameh is likely to come back to Leeds in the summer with a straight tussle for the starting spot alongside Kristensen, as Ayling’s contract is due to expire.
