Leeds to continue their good form at the Keepmoat

In recent years, the Keepmoat has been a happy hunting ground for Leeds United. In the five matches played at Doncaster’s newly-built stadium we are yet to lose; winning four and drawing the other.

In-fact, in all competitions at any venue, Leeds haven’t lost to Rovers since that play-off final back in 2007. And you wouldn’t bet against that run being extended come 17:00 tonight.

Overall, there’ve been 23 matches played between the two sides. Leeds have won 12 of those (a 52% win percentage), Doncaster just 4 (a 17% win percentage) whilst the other 7 have ended in a stalemate (31%). Away at Doncaster (all venues and competitions), we’ve won 6 out of 12 (50%), Doncaster 2 (17%) and 4 draws (33%).

Leeds’ biggest win came in the 2010/2011 season. They were unstoppable as both Max Gradel and Jonny Howson scored braces and Luciano Becchio scored the other. Our heaviest defeat, meanwhile, was our first away game against Rovers. a 3-0 defeat back in 1948.

The most recent game between the teams was in the Capital One Cup in August this year. Arguably one of our best performances of the season so far, as goals from debutant, Scott Wootton, Matt Smith and Ross McCormack (pen) secured a 3-1 win.

My prediction: Although our away form has been awful, I’d expect us to secure all 3 points today. A nice, comfortable 2-0 win – Ross McCormack and king Zaliukas scoring our goals. Here’s hoping, eh?
